Tenor saxophone legend Archie Shepp plays nine well known ballads, but everyone who knows Shepp, will know that this is not a sweet and lovely ballad session. This is music for the head, although it is highly emotional, too. He can blow the whole world`s pain through his sax and at the same time his confounded lines sound very sophisticated  0 2 breathtaking. The wonderful accompanying and soloing of his band mates, each one a master, makes this disk highly recommended. Especially because the sound is perfect, rich of colour, very good and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, palpable, very dynamic, brilliant.
